Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza star as protagonists in Bachaana

2016, it seems, will be another unforgettable year for Pakistani cinema. After Ho Mann Jahan’s release, cinema fans can rejoice as Bachaana, a new film starring theatre and television darling Sanam Saeed and actors Mohib Mirza and Adeel Hashmi is gearing up for release.
The film’s trailer, launched on Tuesday evening at the PC Hotel in Karachi, by the film’s cast and crew, packed quite a punch
Shot in Mauritius with a Pakistani and Indian crew, the film tells the story of an Indian girl Alia, played by Sanam Saeed and a Pakistani taxi driver named Vicky, played by Mohib Mirza and how the two are brought together due to unforeseen circumstances. Alia is forced to place her trust in someone she barely knows as the film follows this couple’s encounter and adventures.
Bachaana’s trailer is cut extremely well and what stands out is Mohib and Sanam’s craft as actors. Their expressions and comic timing as well as chemistry is enough to woo one to invest time in this cinematic offering. With just three songs in the film, and a background score composed by Ali Sher, Bachaana feels immensely promising.
The trailer launch event itself began fashionably late and was attended by several notables like Omran and Eva Shafique, director Sohail Javed, actors Bushra Ansari and Aaminah Sheikh.

In the film’s first official trailer, Sanam Saeed and Mohib Mirza shine and Adeel Hashmi makes his big screen debut as a villain.

Sanam Saeed, Adeel Hashmi and Mohib Mirza were joined by the film’s director Nasir Khan, producer Rizwan Saeed, Sultana Siddiqui and Satish Anand (CEO Eveready Pictures) as they spoke about this Indo-Pak love rom-com before opening the floor for a quick question-answer session with the press in attendance.
Sanam Saeed remarked how it was great to work with the same team with whom she started her television career with. “I’m nervous, I have never worked on the big screen before, I used to hide from it, but great work is happening, its exciting, its putting Pakistan on the map, although TV has put us more on the map. So, I hope you like it. My tagline for Bachaana is easy, breezy, cheesy romantic comedy with a little bit of adventure.”
Sanam noted that the film will present her and Mohib in a different avatar and said, “Not so serious, not so angry, just really being silly and laughing, its very positive and uplifting. We had a great time shooting it in Mauritius, and doing different characters.”
Adeel Hashmi, who makes his big screen debut with the film, described his role as distinctly different and in a light-hearted manner said, “I will certainly not tell you what it is” before recounting the story of how the film fell in his lap. He spoke about how cinema has been appreciated thus far and hoped that the audience would continue its support.
Mohib Mirza opened his address by thanking and congratulating the film’s team and described Nasir Khan as a “talented director”. He confessed that he loved the script immediately upon reading it. “Some of my previous roles have been hardcore so this film was an opportunity for me, for a change.”
Sultana Siddiqui spoke about the success and encouragement of Pakistan cinema at large and how it should be continued and noted that, with time, the films will simply get better. She pointed out, to a cheering crowd, that we, as people, should learn to respect time and punctuality.
Satish Anand remarked about his joy at the film’s upcoming release and how new filmmakers have made it possible for one to celebrate Pakistani cinema now and in the future. “Thank you for making this vision possible,” he concluded.
